How My Morning Routine
Made a Big Difference
When I think about changing into healthier habits, I think
about A LOT of things. Eating healthier, exercising, sleeping, etc. but I really
didn’t think much about changing my day to day routines until I came across
some ideas on Pinterest. Then I started watching videos on YouTube as well. I
never really put much thought into daily routines being a healthy habit. If I
were to try this out, how could it be possible? I have a BUSY house all the
time. I have 4 children ages 11, 9, 6, and 2. I am always exhausted and home
duties never seem to finish. How can I make this work?
I really want a change in life. I want to be more productive
at home, but I just didn’t know where to start and how. I knew I wanted to
start somewhere and take baby steps into becoming more productive. So, the
first thing I wanted to change was my morning routine. I started to jot down
ideas on how I would like my morning routines to look like. Even though I
really hate thinking about waking up earlier than I already do, it has been
something I wanted to try. I feel that if I wake up earlier, I can start my day
without interruptions…if you know what I mean.
Ok. So, I usually wake up at 5:30 am. I know, that’s super
early! 5:30 is the time I HAVE to get up without snoozing my phone because I
have to get the kiddos ready for the bus. My 11-year-old girl does need more
attention than the other kiddos because she is wheel chair bound (Lyli has
Cerebral Palsy). Her bus is usually the first to come at 6:20am. Then 10
minutes later, my 2 other girls, Janet and Cassi, leave for the bus. Then I am
left with Christopher, my 2-year-old. Busy much?!!? Yea... I need “me” time
before everyone wakes up.
Baby steps ok? … So, I decided to wake up at 5:00am. I put
my alarm on at 4:50am and I lay in bed for an extra 10 mins to think about what
needs to get done today. Once 5 o’clock hits, I get up, put on my gym clothes,
and brush my teeth. I start the coffee but before drinking my coffee, I like to
drink a glass of water…or at least half of it! I am trying to drink more water,
but it can be hard for me at times. I sit at the table, drink my coffee and
look through social media on my phone. Once 5:30 hits, everyone is awake. As soon
as hubby gets out of bed, I make it, so I won’t have that feeling of wanting to
get back in it… Ok, so going forward here, everyone is now gone, and I am left
with Chris. I make a quick easy breakfast snack for him and myself and out the
door to daycare we go! Once I drop him off, I head back home. By this time, it
is already 8:30. I start my morning workout for an hour and a half. Then my day
just continues.
With just that little adjustment of giving myself “me” time
in the morning and making my bed, it made a difference. After a week of doing
it, I felt more motivated to get things accomplished and that made me feel good.
I didn’t have that sluggish lazy feeling anymore. It’s just crazy how the
simplest changes can make a good impact on you. I’m excited to wake up and get
my day started now. So, if you are like me, looking for ways to be more
productive, try a change in your morning routine!
